This is an interesting list of things, but I would personally turn this into a list of things I have learn, rather than things I found to be untrue. It would make it much easier to read in my opinion.
For example:
"You should receive paid training to learn anything new"
becomes
"You don't need paid training to learn anything new".

couldn't agree w/ you comments (in general) more.

> 9. Email is an excellent way to keep track of people’s commitment to decisions
i think this should be 1. actually!

> 15. Open source software is written by dirty dope-smoking hippies
nope there are definitely people that believe this! ... mostly - but not exclusively - in the (see below) 'large organisations' ... but the interesting thing is to challenge these notions.

> 16. You can control change by meticulous planning
actually i think that this is one that no real person (i.e. non-accountant) believes this.

> 18. Anything remotely good can happen for anyone after fixing price, scope and date
yes this is pretty much the ugly sister here!

> 20. You need to choose to be a project manager or an architect for when you grow up
well SOMEONE believes this as PMs and SDs get the big bucks!

> 21. There’s something special about large organisations
well it IS where the money's at (see 20.) so in that respect there IS something special.

> 24. Learning ‘old’ languages is pointless
which extends to the vernacular ... see 'Latin' (nearly everywhere).

> 25. Learning theoretical computer science is pointless
and buried in here is (another) invitation to our place for a meal! :)

> 27. CASE tools are eventually going to be really useful
they will only be useful when there's only programmer left in the world to program and disk space becomes infinite.

additionally ... i'm with you i always liked the artistry of and satisfaction of creating an awesome piece of code.
